Health and Safety!

Hello All!

Here at Haptic Solutions we want you to have the ability to experiment with oils you find online to find the best possible scents for your games. However, we also value your health and safety! Therefore, I am writing this post in hopes that we can keep everyone safe while still having a good time!

In order to accomplish this, I will go over some safety precautions I would advise when filling or refilling your scent bottles. Please check back from time to time as this list will probably be updated.

Outline

  1. Do not use essential oils.

  2. Do not mix scented oils!.

  3. Only use same oil in used bottle!.

  4. Waft smells do not directly inhale!.

  5. Do not drink the oils!.

  6. Personal Protective Equipment!.

  7. Keep out of reach of children!.

  1. Do not use essential oils - There is a difference between scented oils (fragrance oils) and essential oils! Essential oils are used in the making of scented oils. However, they are very concentrated and may not be used in place of scented oils. A number of these concentrates can be dangerous, or even deadly, if they come into contact with skin, or are ingested! Therefore, we advise leaving their handling to experts.

  2. Do not mix scented oils! - Did you know even water is a chemical? Yes, everything around us in the world is a chemical! Sometimes when things are mixed together, even seemingly harmless things, they could react in unexpected, sometimes harmful ways. Therefore, we advise leaving the mixing of the oils to the experts.

  3. Only use same oil in used bottle! - As is mentioned in 2 we advise leaving the mixing of chemicals to the experts and this includes the residue! Additionally, the residue from an old oil will probably change the smell if you put a different oil in. Therefore, it is best to keep with the same oil regardless.

  4. Waft smells do not directly inhale! - Wafting smells is safer and will create a more accurate scent than directly sniffing a smell. In case you are uncertain of what wafting is lift the bottle up a few feet from your face. Then use your free hand in a waving motion towards yourself over the bottle. This will cause just the right amount of scent to come to your nose without being excessive.

  5. Do not drink the oils! - No matter how good the oils smell they are not food! If someone drinks the oil call poison control and your emergency number right away! If possible see if the person can expel the oils and possibly take activated charcoal to absorb some of the oil.

  6. Personal Protective Equipment! - Wear closed toed shoes, safety goggles, and safety gloves (if you have a lab coat go ahead and wear that too). Also, please use the pipettes provided with the bottles to transfer the oil! It is recommended to fill the bottles in a well ventilated area. If needed wear a painters mask to reduce fumes breathed. If you get oil on your eyes or skin, please wash for fifteen minutes under running water!

  7. Keep out of reach of children! - Please keep the product away from young children and supervise youth under 15.
